How to awaken your Kundalini?

Do zodiac signs influence your personality?

Kundalini awakening is definitely the spiritual transmutation you make. Kundalini awakening is, actually speaking, the rediscovery you do to yourself. This is how you tap into the deep, powerful spiritual energy lying dormant inside.

What Kundalini is: Kundalini is actually a Sanskrit word meaning 'Coiled Snake'. Actually speaking, it's the metaphorical term, used to denote the divine spiritual energy which is believed to have set at the base of the spine. It is the divine essence; the ultimate life force energy with which you were born. Kundalini awakening techniques actually teach you how to uncoil this snake lying dormant within. Kundalini is the source of your creative power and divine gifts. With the Kundalini awakening, you are supposed to feel all-time full-body orgasm which is more sensual than sexual. The awakening opens new insights into your life in such a way that your creativity surges.

The Three Phases of Kundalini Awakening

Kundalini awakening is not a single event. It is a process with distinct phases, each with its own challenges and gifts. The first phase is the fire of purification. Kundalini rises up the spine, clearing traumas, releasing held emotions, and disrupting the neuro-endocrine systems of the body. You may experience shaking, heat, spontaneous movements, emotional releases, and shifts in consciousness. This phase is often uncomfortable. It is the fire that burns away what no longer serves you. The second phase involves expansive experiences of ecstasy, peace, bliss, and emptiness as the upper chakras open. You gain a greater perspective on life. You connect with cosmic consciousness. The third phase is the opening of the spiritual heart. Energy shifts from upward-flowing to a downward flow of grace into the heart center. This leads to compassion, re-anchoring in the world, and the embodiment of light. Kundalini is not a goal. It is a path to integration.

The Neuroscience of Kundalini: What Modern Science Reveals

Modern neuroscience is now beginning to map what the ancient yogis described. A theoretical framework published in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience proposes that Kundalini awakening corresponds to a process of progressive autonomic and cortical integration. The model tracks a four-stage sequence: fragmentation, dormant baseline, progressive integration, and threshold coherence. Observed patterns include improvements in heart rate variability, restoration of cortisol diurnal rhythm, and attentional stability. These are measurable physiological changes. This is not mysticism. It is neurophysiology. Research has also shown that Kundalini Yoga intervention increases hippocampal volume in older adults—the region of the brain responsible for memory and emotional regulation. Another randomized controlled trial found that Kundalini Yoga improved executive functioning, mood, and resilience in individuals with mild cognitive impairment. The ancient sages understood the science of consciousness long before modern instruments could measure it.

 Shaktipata: The Descent of Grace

In Tantric traditions, there is a phenomenon called Shaktipata—literally, the descent of power or grace. It is the spontaneous awakening of Kundalini, often triggered by the presence of an awakened guru or by intense spiritual practice. Shaktipata is considered a transmission of insight, a direct awakening of the energy that lies dormant. The Tantrāloka describes a specific initiation called Bhujangavedha, the Serpent Piercing, given only to those with a sincere wish to pursue spiritual practice. The Hathayogapradipika states that the power of Kundalini can evoke not only blissful bodily sensations but unequaled knowledge. The Gherandasamhita describes the signs that follow awakening: horripilation, flood of tears, tendency to yawn, stammering, bursting of the knots, divine joy of touch, and vibrations in the bindu. These are not symptoms of illness. They are signs of grace.

The Importance of Guidance and Preparation

Kundalini awakening is not a practice to be undertaken lightly. Traditional texts and modern clinical observations both emphasize the importance of preparation and guidance. Advanced yogic practices, if performed improperly without necessary precautions, can increase the tendency to develop psychotic disorders—especially in individuals already at risk. This is not to say that Kundalini causes mental illness. Rather, a constitutionally weak nervous system, already predisposed to emotional problems, may decompensate under the stress of awakening if proper precautions are not observed. The wise path is to prepare the body and mind first. Establish a foundation of discipline, healthy living, and emotional stability. Seek guidance from an experienced teacher. And remember that Kundalini is not a race. It is a sacred journey that unfolds in its own time.

How to get your Kundalini awakened: It's definitely possible for everyone no matter what your background is. But first of all, you have to understand the fact that it's never achievable so fast as it's a step by step process. It helps your body get fully oxygenated and the regular practice of which definitely helps you have your Kundalini, awakened. Have deep breathing from your diaphragm and try to inhale through nose and exhale through mouth and hold the breath as long as you can. When you do the practice, close your eyes and have the inner visualization that Kundalini gets uncoiled up at the base of your spine. It's said that Kundalini is located in the area between your rectum and navel. And it's positioned itself in the triangular sacrum bone in three and a half coils. Picture that your kundalini energy which is red in color is getting uncoiled and is coming upwards, spreading throughout your body inside. Regularize your breathing exercise this way. Your deep, diaphragmatic breathing can definitely reduce your blood pressure as it slows your heart rate down and it can also stimulate the so called Vagus nerve which controls your feelings of tension or anxiety.

C) Practice Lucid dreaming: Lucid dreaming is another powerful technique and the regular practice of which for at least 5 minutes can definitely help you have your Kundalini, awakened. You can do it sitting or standing or even lying. This happens because the practice  love is going to make you vibrate at your best. Your highest level of vibratory order can definitely change your biochemistry inside. And you will have your Chakras automatically activated and the power of Kundalini awakened.

F) Sound/ Music: Everything is sound and sound influences sound. Start your day listening to your favorite piece of devotional music with the inner visualization that you get your Kundalini raised up. You can also do the same practice by reciting your favorite Kundalini awakening Mantras or Recitals. Focus on the recital and your inner visualization.
