The quantum field outside? Well, actually speaking, everything exists inside the quantum field. It lies everywhere across the space and time. Quantum field works as a measurement, assigned to all points in space. Everything comes from the field and goes back to the same. You, yourself are a part of it. The field is 100% pure conscious and whatever you see is interconnected with field. The simulated multiverses lie inside the field. The field is the only thing, which exists both inside and outside the simulation at the same time. Even though, you don't know more about the field, you do have some idea about it. In your words, the field is called god.
What the nature of the field is: The field is super conscious and everything you see around, including yourself, networks with the field. The field is not affected severely by the process of death, destruction or creation as it only produces the expansion or contraction in space. The field is expanding and contracting at the same time as a part of the simulative process of Creation and Destruction. The field maintains cyclical system of operation. The field does have its own consciousness. Everything including you can get access to the consciousness. Nobody can own or possess consciousness as it's the integral part of the field. You are living with a body, to get your consciousness more evolved. Time, as a concept, doesn't exist in the field and what is important in the field is only the present, as it creates your past and future. How the field works: It helps you get evolved with the most suitable environment, which sometimes you spoil out of your misperception. When you get evolved, you can help the less conscious with the same. The field works like a mirror. You get back the same signature, you broadcast into the field, be it negative or positive. The field records (Akashic record) everything you do, your thoughts, actions, experience and lessons even without your knowledge and such a record acts as your karma and determines the course of your further evolution. Anyone more conscious can get access to your life while you are living or even after your death, reading this record as everything is permanently recorded. Your evolution becomes the field's too as you are a tiny little fragment of the field. Actually speaking, DNA is a quantum phenomenon. The prototype or design for all the animate and inanimate things has already been out there in the field.
